Paul Mengert is the Chief Executive Officer, or CEO, of Association Management Group and was the founder of the company when it was established in 1984. Paul Mengert was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, which is where one of Association Management Group's offices is now located. Paul Mengert attended the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, majoring in both Political Science and Communications. He also attend Harvard University's Harvard Business School, (OPM). Paul Mengert earned the PCAM (Professional Community Association Manager) certification, which in part prepared him for his current line of work.
Paul Mengert has previously served on the national senior faculty for the Community Associations Institute and was the President of the Carolina's Chapter of that professional organization. Paul Mengert also teaches classes concerning homeowner's associations as well. These classes have been approved for continuing education by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, South Carolina Department of Real Estate, the California Department of Real Estate, the Florida Bureau of Condominiums, the Nevada Department of Real Estate and the Georgia Department of Real Estate. By all accounts, Paul Mengert is considered an industry leader within this field because of his work with Association Management Group.
In former President Bill Clinton's second term, Paul Mengert was tapped to become a USAID housing sector advisor for the countries of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. In this role he was able to develop strategies for privatizing government housing and forming thousands of new homeowner's associations in those countries. These new homeowner's associations in those countries helped to give local residents more control over their own communities, which was a central goal for Paul Mengert.
Prior to working for Association Management Group, Paul Mengert was working for James B. Hunt, the Governor of North Carolina. Paul Mengert serves on the Board of Directors in the U.S. for the Givat Haviva Educational Foundation, which was awarded the United Nation's Peace Education Prize. He has also served on the Alumni Board of Directors for Greensboro Day School, Greensboro Housing Coalition as well as the NC National Federation of Independent Business. Paul Mengert also received a Congressional appointment to the White House Small Business Council.
